Ежегодный ущерб от курения оценили в 1 триллион долларов
Мировая экономика ежегодно теряет более триллиона долларов из-за последствий курения. Об этом говорится в докладе Всемирной организации здравоохранения и Национального института рака США, который цитирует Reuters.
Экономические потери связаны как с затратами на лечение заболеваний, вызванных курением табака, так и снижением производительности труда среди курящих. Авторы доклада добавляют, что затраты в будущем только вырастут. При этом ежегодные доходы табачных компаний ВОЗ оценивает в 269 миллиардов долларов.
По оценке ВОЗ, от курения ежегодно погибают около шести миллионов человек. Эта цифра, как ожидается, вырастет до восьми миллионов к 2030 году, в основном за счет стран с низким и средним уровнем доходов населения.
Всемирная организация здравоохранения ежегодно выпускает доклады о «глобальной табачной эпидемии», чтобы привлечь к этой проблеме все большего внимания. В 2013 году экономический ущерб от курения в ВОЗ оценили в полтриллиона долларов. Что повлияло на двукратное увеличение оценки за три года, не уточняется.
Аналитики из McKinsey в своем исследовании влияния различных факторов на мировую экономику заявляют, что курение приводит к потере 2,1 триллиона долларов ежегодно. Столько же, по их оценкам, мировой ВВП теряет от войн, терактов и преступности.
Эксперты отметили, что у властей государств есть механизмы, позволяющие сократить потребление табачных изделий населением, а также помогающие снизить смертность от курения. Однако в последнее время они не проявляют активности в этой проблеме.
«Правительства опасаются, что борьба против табака будет иметь негативные экономические последствия», — считают аналитики.

А о людях и их здоровье в действительности никто и не думает.
